Aves 1987 Expedicion
shortwave (21 Mhz) QSL viewcard used by operator WB4ZNH, 20th Anniversary
logo for Asociación de Radioaficionados de Venezuela on back, verified by
YV5EED. Five views in color (!) show the expedition members posed & in
action, and the Venezuelan flag flying over the sand (Dominica has a
disputed claim to this tiny island). About the size of a football field, and
one of the most desirable QSL locations on the planet, it is sometimes
completely submerged by hurricanes. A later expedition, in 2006, required 14
years of planning. Excellent condition. $20.00 vd "Greetings from the Nature Island / Dominica" unused continental post card with a close-up of a government band on parade, from a copyright photo by Cecil Clarke, excellent condition. $1.75 dmp NEW / NUEVO / NOU "DOMINICA / A pass through the Mountains." "S.S. 'RYNDAM' 15,015 Gross Reg. Tons / A New Concept in Tourist Travel" postcard printed in the Netherlands for the Holland-America Line, unused, bottom corner bend not easily noticed from the front. Routine sailings were between Rotterdam and New York City. Later named the Copa Casino, she sank 16 March 2003 of the coast of the Dominican Republic. $12.00 s(o)dd NEW / NUEVO / NOU VICTORIA AIR, S.A. (United States). Unused regular-size post card showing its Douglas DC-3-210D (N102AP) at Miami Florida in March 1990, near mint. In 7 June 1991, this aircraft made a forced landing in a Dominican Republic sugar cane field and was written off; fortunately there were no fatalities. $8.50 adf VIRGIN ISLANDS INTERNATIONAL AIRWAYS (United States). Unused regular-size postcard showing its Douglas DC-3-201D (N102AP) at Miami Florida in January 1984, near mint. Caption: "SWEET DREAMS / COME TRUE in / TIJUANA, MEXICO". fresh appearance generally, trivial wear to the bottom corners, paper starting to brown evenly with age. The winged beer keg is flying over the man's shoulders and is attached by a tube to his mouth. Also in his dreams are several Mexicali beer bottles, some standing and some falling off a shelf, and others with wings taking taking flight. Publisher's code dates to 1950. $5.50 (bmda)*
